The Doodle Bar is a space in Battersea where people have the freedom to enjoy a good scribble, play a game of ping pong and enjoy some street food on our outside 'beach' area. The bar is set against the backdrop of TESTBED1 - a dramatic and versatile arts and events space for creative innovation, ideas and experimentation.

  • Doodle Pong and meatballs night!

From 1 October 2014, Wednesdays will become our Doodle Pong league night where friends, colleagues, enemies and lovers can fight to win the coveted Doodle Pong cup, aka a £50 bar tab. Teams of two can register by emailing events@thedoodlebar.com or by filling in the Doodle Pong sign-up sheet in the bar or Street Kitchen hatch. We'll need your team name, both your full names, and a contact telephone no. Full details about the league, format and rules available on the Doodle blog. Street food vendors Belpassi Bros will be selling their legendary meatballs on the night.

  • Through The Plughole: Hidden Landscapes

15-18 October, Catja de Haas will build a large white, look-in box in the TESTBED1 space. The box is a pristine white, perfect kitchen island. A landscape, viewed through holes in the shape of plugholes, is a surreal mix of chaos, loneliness and waste. Built of discarded and small domestic objects, it explores the space of emptiness and waste that is hidden from view: A city of casts of packaging, a lonely sock landscape, weird washing lines and bits of Barbie create the landscape viewed through the openings. Preview 15 October, 7pm. For more info visit the TESTBED1 website.

  • A Giant Doll's House Project

The Giant Doll's House project will take place on the wall of TESTBED1 in Battersea, 15 - 18 October. Catja de Haas and Lala Thorpe from Artescape are sending invitations to schools across London, hopefully amassing 100's of shoebox houses and installing them on one wall of the space.  The project highlights the importance of a home for all and therefore each participant will be asked for a contribution of £1 for the housing charity Shelter. For more information visit the TESTBED1 website

  • The Anatomy of Melancholy

The Anatomy of Melancholy is a new opera exploring 21st century depression and the history of mental health. It is inspired by Robert Burton's book of the same name (published 1621), in which a detailed dissection of melancholy is attempted in the search of knowledge of its symptons, causes and cures. For their first major London production Bodycorps is collaborating with leading molecular psychiatrists to create an intimate opera for seven vocalists and nine musicians. Daily 22-25 October, TESTBED1, 8pm. Tickets £12.50 - book here.
